There will be a sensory space\, a quiet space and sensory bags available throughout the morning. \nCelebrate Caribbean history and culture as we mark 70 years since London Transport began recruiting employees in the Caribbean. In 1956\, London Transport launched a recruitment campaign in the Caribbean\, inviting people to work on buses\, stations\, canteens and track maintenance. Their contribution shaped the city we know today. \nDiscover how Caribbean communities helped keep London moving and enjoy hands-on fun for all ages. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKey information\nAdvanced booking is essential as places are limited. Families are welcome to stay later\, general public will be admitted from 10:00. \nTickets:\nFree for children with one accompanying adult. They found important jobs in hospitals\, factories and also in London Transport (what we know today as Transport for London). \nDonald Hinds was originally from Jamaica and moved to London\, where he worked as a bus conductor. \nWhat did a bus conductor do? \n\nSold tickets in the bus\nHelped passengers get on and off\nHelped with directions\nKept everyone safe\n\nFun fact\nIn the 1960s\, bus conductors helped Londoners get around long before modern Oyster cards and contactless payment existed!
