DESCRIPTION:This relaxed event provides a calmer environment to view the Ancient India: living traditions exhibition for people with disabilities\, neurodivergent individuals and anyone with sensory needs.\nWhere does the image of the beloved and playful Hindu god Ganesha\, with his elephant head and rounded belly\, originate? What inspired depictions of the serene Buddha and Jain enlightened teachers? \nReaching back more than 2\,000 years\, this new exhibition explores the origins of Hindu\, Jain and Buddhist sacred art in the ancient and powerful nature spirits of India\, and the spread of this art beyond the subcontinent. \nFrom the symbolic footprints which preceded portrayals of the Buddha in human form to the cosmic serpents incorporated into Hindu art and the nature spirits who attend Jain enlightened teachers\, this compelling exhibition tells the ancient stories behind these living traditions. \nThis event is part of the public programme supporting Ancient India: living traditions (22 May – 19 October 2025). \nBooking information\n\nBook now(Opens in new window) to reserve your place.\nPlease meet at the Montague Place entrance at 6.30pm. SUMMARY:Sensory Friendly Workshop @ V&A South Kensington\, London
DESCRIPTION:Come along to our Sensory Friendly monthly workshop for neurodiverse visitors of all ages and their families.  \nAs a family you’ll get to design\, make\, experiment and draw using lightboxes\, overhead projectors and a range of materials. Play with light and dark\, reflections\, shadows\, and colours.  \nIf you need a break\, there will be a breakout space available through the day\, with one within the event space and the other nearby. This space will have: a blackout tent\, cushions\, sensory toys\, and ear defenders. \nAll activities are optional\, and you can visit at any point during the event timings\, between 11am – 4pm. However\, please book your tickets to give us an idea if you’re likely to visit us earlier 11am-1:30pm\, or later in the day 1:30-4pm. \nThese sessions are created and led by Groundswell Arts. \nThis is an activity for families where either a child or the parent/ carer/ guardian has a neurodiversity or sensory processing disorder. This is a free\, drop-in event for families to enjoy all together; no child can be left unattended. Suitable for ages 5+. \nAll materials will be provided\, all sourced sustainably. DESCRIPTION:A relaxed morning event for Neurodivergent\, Learning Disabled children and their families/friends\nSkip the event ticket details and go to event summary. \n When\nSunday 28 September 2025 \n09:00 – 11:00\n Booking information\nTicketing for this event is £1.00 per person.  \nIf you wish to remain in the Tower of London after 11:00\, you may do so. \nSeparate ticket (advance booking required) \nBuy relaxed event tickets\nEvents\nFamilies\nStart of the events summary\nRelaxed events at the Tower of London are for Neurodivergent and Learning Disabled children & their families (5-16). \nWe welcome all families who identify as Neurodivergent or Learning Disabled including ADHD\, Autism\, Anxiety\, OCD\, Tourette’s and all other sensory and processing difficulties. \nEnjoy two hours at the Tower of London free from crowds between the hours of 9:00-11:00. \nThe event will include free entry to The Tower of London\, the Crown Jewels and access to relaxed and SEN programming lead by disability aware contractors and facilitators. \nCrowd levels are limited\, and access considerations have been made to ensure you and your family can enjoy the Tower\, free from loud sound effects and harsh lighting. \nA café and retail space will also be available. \nEvent information\nCrowd levels will be kept to a minimum for these events with only ticket holders being permitted entry during the event time slots. Ticketing is capped at 1500 people. \nLighting\, sound and general effects throughout the Tower grounds will be minimised or turned off for your comfort.  \nContent warnings will be placed upon spaces that may contain material audiences may find distressing.  \nAccess guides to the Tower of London are on our accessibility page. We will not ask for proof of disability or supporting documents. \nVisitors with limited mobility\nThe Tower of London is a historic building with difficult stairs and passageways – including spiral staircases – and wheelchair access is limited. There are many steps throughout the Tower with cobbles laid in some of the surfaces and pathways. There are some low doorways. \nFrequently asked questions (FAQs)\nFind out more information about Relaxed Events\, Children and Families at the Tower on our dedicated frequently asked questions. \nRelaxed Events at the Tower FAQs\nAccess information\nLevel access\nThe Jewel House\, which houses the Crown Jewels\, has level access. There is a moving walkway (‘travelator’) alongside the Crown Jewels. Our Palace Hosts will be happy to stop the travelator. \nMobility aids\nA wheelchair is available free of charge. These cannot be pre-booked and are issued on a first-come first-served basis. It can be obtained by speaking to a member of staff on entry. \nLifts and ramps\nThere is a lift in the White Tower\, which will take you to and from the shop in the basement. This is on the north side of the White Tower\, opposite the entrance to the Crown Jewels. For safety reasons\, we can only permit one wheelchair user in the basement at a time. Please ask a member of staff in the area for assistance. \nThere is a platform lift at the end of the moving walkway in the Crown Jewels exhibition\, which allows you to access the raised platform to spend more time viewing the Crown Jewels. It is not suitable for mobility scooters. Please ask a member of the Jewel House team to use the lift.
