DESCRIPTION:A Relaxed\, sensory festive visit to the Historic Kitchens\nFor anyone with additional needs or disabilities of any age and their families/friends.\n\nJoin our experienced staff and volunteers for a special visit to the Historic Kitchen\, decorated in Holly and Ivy. Discover the difference between how we prepared our festive food in Victorian times\, and the present day.\nThere will be opportunities to handle museum objects and costume\, sensory activities and traditional Christmas decorations to make and take home. Don’t forget to stir the Christmas pudding and make a wish!\n\nA cloakrooms\, chill out zone and lunch/snack rooms are available. The historic kitchens are wheelchair accessible\, and FREE parking is available\, if reserved in advance. All attendees will be contacted in advance of the visit\, to help us plan for their individual needs.\nPlease email Lawj@visitgunnersbury.org to reserve your place.\n

DESCRIPTION:Drop in to an object-handling event with members of our Visitor Experience and Engagement team\, where you can get up close to items in our collection. \nThere will be different stations throughout the space\, each with objects that you can touch and explore at your own pace. In addition\, there will be other creative activities to try. \nCome along if you’re interested in the connections between health\, history and art. \nIf you want a break from the activities\, you can head to our Chill-Out Room to lie down or relax. There will be low lighting\, comfortable seating\, cushions\, mats\, ear defenders\, earplugs and sensory toys.

DESCRIPTION:Join facilitators from our visitor experience and library teams to explore posters and prints of mosquitoes and the diseases they carry. \nWe’ll have material from our collection on display\, including graphic imagery warning of the risks of malaria\, dengue and yellow fever. Highlights include work by British designer Abram Games. \nOur facilitators will be on hand to discuss the stories behind the material and the history of public health messaging.
