October 27.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOverview\nOur free Relaxed Monday events have been specifically designed for children and young people with autism spectrum conditions or sensory processing differences.\nEvents this year: February 17th. April 7th. May 26th. July 28th. August 4th. August 25th. October 27.Events are free\, but advance booking is essential. One ticket per person\, and one member of the group needs to be aged 5-25 with autism spectrum conditions or sensory processing differences. Drop-in workshops are most suitable for ages 8-14. Drinks and snacks will be available. Join us for a free morning or afternoon event specifically designed for children and young people with autism spectrum conditions or sensory processing differences. The event offers children and young people the opportunity to visit the museum without the distraction of other visitors\, accompanied by their families\, carers or friends. Throughout each session there will be drop-in cartoon workshops with our cartoonist Steve Marchant\, as well as a self-led trail of the museum – or you can just use the time to explore the museum at your own pace. We cannot be responsible for any attendees. However\, if there are any access requirements you would like us to know about or discuss\, as well as any questions you may have\, please email learning@cartoonmuseum.org and our Learning and Outreach Officer\, Steve\, will be happy to talk through everything. DESCRIPTION:This event welcomes people with disabilities\, neurodivergent individuals and anyone with sensory needs seeking a calmer environment in which to visit the Hiroshige: artist of the open road exhibition.\nThe first exhibition on Hiroshige to be held at the British Museum\, and the first on the artist in London for more than a quarter of a century\, this is a visually stunning portrait of a country about to change forever. \nFrom fashionable figures and energetic city views to remote landscapes and impressions of the natural world\, Utagawa Hiroshige (1797–1858) captured many aspects of life in the Japan of his time. Stunning bird-and-flower prints reveal his poetic feeling for nature while his evocative landscapes reflected the growing interest in travel across Japan. Hiroshige portrayed his world sometimes as it was\, but often the way he imagined it could be. \nThe exhibition features prints\, drawings\, illustrated books and paintings from the British Museum collection\, as well as a significant gift and loan of prints from Alan Medaugh\, a major US collector of Hiroshige’s work\, and other important loans. As well as exploring Hiroshige’s incredible body of work\, this show considers his global legacy\, which spans from Japan’s Edo period (1615–1868) through to Vincent van Gogh and contemporary artists such as Julian Opie. \nThis event is part of the public programme supporting Hiroshige: artist of the open road (1 May – 7 September 2025). \nBooking information\n\nBook now(Opens in new window) to reserve your place.\nPlease meet at the Montague Place entrance at 6.30pm. DESCRIPTION:Wayne McGregor: Infinite Bodies Relaxed-Sessions\nWe are hosting a Relaxed Sessions for anyone who would like to explore Wayne McGregor: Infinite Bodies in a calm and comfortable environment\, including people with autism and other neurodiverse needs\, as well as their siblings\, families and carers. \nThese will be held on Friday 28 November 2025 and Friday 23 January 2026 at 9.30–11am \nWhat’s On\nExhibition\n+4\nShare \nTo ensure that Wayne McGregor: Infinite Bodies is as welcoming and calm as possible\, we: \nLimit the number of visitors in the session\nLower elements of AV in the space\nProvide Access Packs – available at the entrance to the exhibition. These contain: Noise cancelling headphones\, magnifying glass sheets for reading any printed text\, a large print guide and a stress ball\nRun regular disability awareness sessions with our staff\nProvide a safe/calm space to help assist visitors who may be overwhelmed due to the new environment\nThis autumn\, Somerset House proudly presents Infinite Bodies\, a groundbreaking exhibition dedicated to the polymath practice of internationally renowned choreographer and director Sir Wayne McGregor CBE. Marking the culmination of Somerset House’s 25th birthday celebrations\, it will offer a bold exploration of McGregor’s three-decade career. \nThis landmark exhibition explores how McGregor’s investigations into the body\, movement and cutting-edge digital technologies have radically redefined our perception of physical intelligence. A series of multi-sensory choreographic installations\, performances and experiments will take over Somerset House’s Embankment Galleries\, including spectacular new commissions. Extending the experience beyond Somerset House\, a major off-site installation will also be presented at Stone Nest in London’s West End — forming part of a city-wide celebration of Infinite Bodies. \nReflecting the collaborative nature that defines Studio Wayne McGregor’s creative home in East London\, the exhibition features collaborations with world-leading artists\, designers\, musicians\, and technologists\, such as Industrial Light & Magic\, artist group Random International\, Oscar-winning sound designer Nicolas Becker\, renowned music producer LEXX\, and artists Ben Cullen Williams and Jeffrey Shaw. DESCRIPTION:What you’ll do\nJoin a hands-on\, creative workshop where you can playfully experiment with light\, colour\, shadows and projection. You’ll have the chance to create your own large-scale\, moving artworks. This is a space to play\, explore\, and create without fear of getting it wrong – just bring your curiosity. \nThe workshop will be led by artists Maral Mamaghanizadeh and Alice Bowen-Churchill from Spectroscope\, and is inspired by the ‘1880 THAT’ exhibition  by Christine Sun Kim & Thomas Mader\, and the ‘Finger Talk’ installation by Cathy Mager. \nTogether\, we’ll explore what it feels like to live with the threat of losing one’s language and the expressive power of our hand gestures and movements – whether or not you know British Sign Language (BSL). \nThis workshop will be guided in BSL\, with voice over interpreters available for non-signers. \nThere will be a Chill-Out Room available with low lighting\, comfortable seating\, cushions\, mats\, ear defenders\, earplugs and sensory toys. \nWho can come\nThis workshop is for people aged 14 to 19 years old and disabled people aged 14 to 25 years old.
