Courtesy Arpita Singh and Serpentine.\n\n\n\n\nAbout Live \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin us for our inaugural Relaxed Hour in the exhibition Arpita Singh: Remembering.\nRelaxed Hour is a dedicated time for anyone who might benefit from a more spacious\, gentle environment. This sessions are designed for visitors who experience sensory sensitivities\, neurodivergent individuals\, people with neurological conditions\, and anyone who would appreciate a quieter\, less crowded experience. Families\, friends\, and carers are warmly welcome. \nDuring Relaxed Hour\, there are no lighting effects or music in the gallery. It’s completely fine to talk or make noise in the space\, and ear defenders are available upon request. \nThis is a ticketed event to help manage reduced capacity and ensure comfort for all visitors. Tickets are free\, and donations are welcome. \nAbout the exhibition\nRemembering is the first solo institutional exhibition of Arpita Singh outside India\, featuring key works selected in close collaboration with the artist from her prolific career spanning more than six decades. Arpita Singh was born in 1937 in Baranagar\, then Bengal Presidency\, now West Bengal\, and moved to New Delhi with her family in 1946 where she has since lived and worked. The number of tickets available will be limited to ensure the gallery is not too crowded. Our staff will be on hand to give you a warm welcome and support your visit. \nAll visitors to this special opening will receive a visual story in advance via email to provide information on what to expect at the event. Join this session to explore drawing and designing with light! \nThis session will explore the idea of ‘home’. As a family you’ll get to design\, build and draw using projections\, fabrics and UV lights. Play with light and dark\, reflections\, shadows\, and colours. Create and experiment using a mixture of different art materials to make colourful projections in the space. \nIf you need a break\, there will be a breakout space available through the day\, with one within the event space and the other nearby. This space will have: a blackout tent\, cushions\, sensory toys\, and ear defenders. \nAll activities are optional\, and you can visit at any point during the event timings\, between 11am – 4pm. However\, please book your tickets to give us an idea if you’re likely to visit us earlier 11am-1:30pm\, or later in the day 1:30-4pm. \nThis session is inspired by Rachel Sale Adobe’s Illustration resident at South Kensington V&A\, and the Museum’s collection. These sessions are created and led by Groundswell Arts. \nThis is an activity for families where either a child or the parent/ carer/ guardian has a neurodiversity or sensory processing disorder. This is a free\, drop-in event for families to enjoy all together; no child can be left unattended.
