Make a nice-smelling pomander with herbs from our garden. In the past it was believed that they would ward off “bad air” and disease.
Seacole Sessions are sensory friendly events for families. They are designed to support autistic and neurodiverse families and are suitable for people who would benefit from visiting the museum when it is less crowded and noisy. Spaces for these activities are limited and free tickets must be booked in advance. All those who sign up will be sent a visual story via email.
Important information:
•Our programme is recommended for 3-10 year olds but siblings and babies are very welcome.
•Children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the activity.
•The workshop will take place in the Museum’s Learning Centre, beside the Priory Church, on the north side of St John’s Square. For an exact location, please use what3words:///pardon.thing.fuzzy.
•If you can no longer attend the activity, please let us know so that we can give another family the opportunity to participate.
•If anyone in your group has sensory needs please contact us (museum@sja.org.uk) and we will ensure that your table is located in a quieter environment, provide you with a visual story or talk through how else we can best assist you on the day.
